Top of the World

Our sleep schedule was all messed up due to jet lag. We woke up early around 6 am and got breakfast in our pajamas we could bring it back to the room and eat it in bed. He got a burger with a fried egg and I got a break burrito that I was quite satisfied with. Unfortunately it gave us great poop for the rest of the trip.

We spent the rest of the morning lounging in bed and napping. I wanted to have one nice meal while we were in Vegas. Since we were staying in the Stratosphere, we figured we would take advantage of the view and have lunch at the Top of the World. We dressed up and headed to the 106 floor. The restaurant makes a full rotation every 80 minutes so we stayed a full 80 minutes to take full advantage of the view from all angels as we dined.

We had a nice meal even though I wasn’t too hungry after breakfast. The pre-meal bread probably didn’t help either. I got a delicious lobster and Mac & cheese while David got a chicken sandwich. He’s fries were amazing.

Even though I was stuffed, we had to get dessert. I wanted to try the baked Alaska since I had never had it before. I think it was my favorite part of the meal.

After dinner we took the elevator to the 109th where the observation deck is. They also had three thrill rides and sky jump up there. We didn’t do any of it haha but I enjoyed my view.

We spent the rest of the day chilling at the hotel. We were tied from the day before and wanted to actually vacation. We tried to go to the adult pool but it was closed for maintenance so we went down to the main one. We didn’t get in because of the kids and it was a bit cold to sunbathe so we didn’t stay long.

We ended our night by getting Fat Tuesday’s and we sat and talked about our pasts. He opened up more about girls. He had dated and I asked questions. He told me more about the Nicole girl. It felt good. When we got back to the room I asked if he loved me. He said he wasn’t sure and that hurt a lot. I wasn’t mad but if you’re with someone for a year, is unsettling to hear that they’re not sure if they love you. He fell asleep and I had a panic attack. I got up and went to walk around the hotel. He called me a few times when he woke up. I wasn’t ready to pick up. He ended up finding me in the casino. He was actually very upset which was never my intention. I still needed some time though so I kept walking and he went for a walk down the street. He wasn’t there when I got back to the room and I had a little cry.

When he got back, he put a bag in front of me. He had actually gone to a dispensary and bought me thc infused honey mustard. It made me laugh. It actually meant a ton to me that he did this, since he doesn’t smoke so he didn’t go in for himself. And he knows how much I love honey mustard.

He wouldn’t let me go to sleep without talking out what was going on. I told him I wasn’t mad that he didn’t love me, just afraid of getting hurt. He explained that he thinks he loves me, but had a complicated relationship with live because of his father. He said he wouldn’t hurt me though. I understood and appreciated him opening up to me. It was actually one of my favorite moments of the whole trip.

Blue Man and the Bellagio

We covered a ton of ground our first full day in Vegas.

We got an early start and headed over to Luxor to pick up our free tickets to see the Blue Man Group. It was between that, a show I saw last time in Vegas, or this very sexual one. David didn’t want to be turned on in public so BMG it was.

Our show wasn’t until 7 so we had about 10 hours to kill. We started by seeking out the closest In-N-Out Burger. I personally think it’s overrated, but David had to try it. It’s a fun place but he agreed. I did enjoy the animal-style fries, but David wasn’t blown away. We did get to sit outside and enjoy the sun for a bit. It made me feel like I was in California haha.

After lunch we moseyed back to the main strip and explored the different resorts. First was New York, New York. I kept asking David if he felt like he was back home just to annoy him. I think it worked.

We stopped at Taco Bell solely to get alcohol. I didn’t get a chance to try it last time so when in Vegas right? I got a Baja Blast with rum and he got a rose with vodka.

Next we did a bit of shopping. David bought me a blue bracelet that I’ve grown accustomed to wearing everyday. It’s the first piece of jewelry that he has ever bought me. I also made him stop to watch the dancing fountains at The Bellagio. I think he appreciated it.

We spent more time exploring the big resorts like the Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace, and Paris before heading back to Luxor for our show. David is basically my personal photographer. He takes the best pictures of me on his own. I usually don’t have to ask haha. We grabbed ice cream to hold us over during the show. I got Oreo, cookie dough, and Reece’s cup. It definitely filled me up.

We both loved the Blue Man Group. It’s kind of hard to explain. It’s random and they play music but also do a bunch of performances. They make art. There was as mini rave in the middle that involved a bunch of toilet paper. But it was very enjoyable. We both walked out laughing, and David even made me stand in line to get my picture taken with them.

We ended the night getting Mexican at our hotel and filling up our cups from the day before. We drank and talked and passed out early from the day’s walking around. We did walk a solid 14 miles. A day well spent together.

Touchdown in Las Vegas

Like I stated in my previous post, me and David went on another Baecation to Las Vegas.

We landed around 9am Sunday morning. We had to stop by the Luxor to pick up some paperwork, before heading to The Strat to drop off our bags.

It was too early to check in so we went to explore the area and get some food. We found this soul food place across the street from us. Best decision made in Vegas. I ordered fried catfish with Mississippi potatoes and eggs. David got fried chicken, yams, and Mac & cheese. We ended up sharing peach cobbler and red velvet cake for dessert. I would eat it everyday if I could.

We walked around a bit but we were too tired to walk all the way to the main part of the strip. We were able to check into the hotel early and take a three hour nap. Then we went to explore the hotel. We checked out the shops and all of the restaurants. We ended up getting food at this pub. We got tots and shrimp to share, but by the time the food came out, I was too full to eat my fish and chips.

After dinner, he got the infamous Vegas spiked slushies. We had a Fat Tuesday in our hotel so we went there daily with our insulated tumblers. He got red and I got silver and purple. Perfect his and hers souvenirs.

We drank our drinks and I got pretty buzzed. We fell asleep pretty early from jet lag and lack of sleep. Not too crazy of a first day.

Slides to the DMs

As you know from my last post, me and David just celebrated our year anniversary. Since it fell on a Monday, we were going to Vegas to celebrate the following weekend. However, that Friday, things got a little weird.

On the way to David’s after getting dinner with my coworkers after school, I noticed I got a message request on Instagram. It was from this girl who said she was also talking to David. It was kind of weird but I figured she was just jealous.

That’s when I went on Facebook and noticed she had also messaged requested me on there was well. She went out of her way to find two social media accounts to make sure I got her messages.

When I got to David’s he brushed it off so it was whatever. When I woke up in the morning though, I had gotten more messages from her talking about how she was just over and they just slept together Tuesday. I don’t know if she was mad that I hadn’t responded to her or what. I asked David about it again, and he ignored me again.

That pissed me off.

He went out to get something for his mom and I left. I was too upset to want to stick around. I was pissed all of Saturday. Not because I thought he was cheating on me, but because to me him brushing off my concern was a big fuck you. Like I don’t care if you’re concerned, deal with it.

I was still pissed when I came back Saturday night. I mostly spent time talking to his family and let him do his thing.

At 3am, Erick picked us up and drove us to Newark. We were both exhausted. I was anxious because he wouldn’t talk to me about the situation and on the verge of a panic attack. He relaxed me though by trying to be there for me. He thought my anxious shaking was due to being cold instead of nerves and he gave me his jacket, making him cold. He had me put his head on his shoulder so I could rest. It honestly made me feel much better, but I still wanted to talk. I know I didn’t want to do it front of his friends or family or on the plane so I asked if we could when we got to the hotel. He agreed.

Once we checked in, it was going on 2pm and we were beyond exhausted. We passed out on the bed and slept for a few hours. Once we woke up, I confronted him. He told me that they used to “date” and had a friends with benefits things going on. I guess she just realized how serious we had gotten and was upset. He apologized and said he should have told her about us a lot time ago. Honestly, everything made sense. I had just wanted him to talk to me. But after that instance, he test of the trip was fine.

365 Days

We made it one full trip around the Sun. It feels like we’ve been together so much longer than that but it’s only been a year. We’ve been on so many adventures including zip lining in the Poconos, walking the beach in Virginia Beach, and even our arguing in Williamsburg. We’ve grown a lot together. Maybe he’s the one and maybe he isn’t. Only time will tell.

Monday, May 20th was our actual anniversary. He had to work so I met him by his pharmacy and we grabbed a quick chipotle dinner together. He also got me a big pack of Reece’s cups which was cute. It was nothing special but still nice.

Merry in Maryland

The best thing about David is he is always up for an adventure. He is the first guy I’ve really gone on trips with, and for the most part it had worked out.

When we stopped at David’s dad’s house on the way back from Williamsburg, his step mom invited me to come with him to a baby dedication during Mother’s Day weekend. I was surprised, yet excited to go as long as it was okay with David.

I think David likes having me around to act as a buffer to his family. He has a strained relationship with his father but he is working on it.

We drove up Friday after David got off work. He picked me up dinner from Texas and then we headed out. We only stopped once and hit up an awesome gas station sale of buy three Reece’s for $3, plus they threw in a free Hershey’s bar!

We didn’t get in until around 3am. His dad showed us our room, which was different than the one we had previously napped in. We had a king sized bed with a tv and our own bathroom. It was basically a homier hotel room.

We went right to bed and got woken up very early by crying children. We didn’t mind though because we broke in our room haha. It’s nice that they let us stay together and give up our privacy. We are grown, but also not really in parents’ eyes. I also think they’re afraid of pushing David away though.

I met David’s step sister, her husband John and her two child, one being the reason we were there that weekend. I also met his step brother Will and Patricia’s cousin Chica. Everyone was super nice and inviting. Saturday was a chill family day. We ate and talked and I got to know them. Then me and David napped since we woke up so early and enjoyed our alone time again. His dad almost walked in on us, but it was like kind of making up for lost time haha.

Me and David snuck away for the evening. David has tagged me in a Facebook video of a lobster burger from the place called Slapfish. The closest one to New York happens to be this one in Maryland, so of course we had to go while we were in town. We were not disappointed. He got the burger and I got a lobster, crab, and shrimp grinder. We shared clam chowder fries and a fish taco since David had never had one before. I wish one was closer, but it’s probably for the best it’s not haha.

After dinner, we spent a couple of hours in Barns & Noble. We looked through books and what was on sale. I read him The Giving Tree since he had never read it before. I got a fairytale book and a suicidal book so the usual. He got a cookbook and we both got each other souvenirs because that’s what we do.

A road trip wouldn’t be complete without a Walmart run. We were there until closing. We bought some things on our list and we also bought somethings no one needed. My favorite is the Groot pillow he got me.

We grabbed frostys on the way back to the house and stayed up and ate cookies that he had gotten at slapfish.

Sunday morning, we were unable to sleep in again. After breakfast, we got ready to beach to church for the baby dedication. It was nice to be at church again. It was nice to be at church with David.

After church, his family had a ton of people over. There was food everywhere. We had to get away just to catch our breath. We ran to the mall because he wanted to go to Hot Topic. It was MASSIVE. It took us 15 minutes just to walk to the right store. He got somethings for his friends and he even got me another pop figure so I officially have a collection going.

After partying a little longer, we headed out to go back home. We stopped at Waffle House because I owed him from Williamsburg. He’s obsessed so we have to go whenever there is one around.

This was one of my favorite trips we’ve gone on together. I liked spending time with his family. I’ve never had that before. I feel like he opened up a lot and was comfortable with me. I think I’m the most serious girlfriend he has ever had. I’m very happy with how things are going and I look forward to ya growing more together.

Parm, Partying, and Pizza

Because I’m a huge nerd, I like to go to these science talks on the first Wednesday of every month at the American Museum of Natural History. I like treating myself to date night on those days. This time I went to Parm, know man for their parmigiana obviously. I got the 10 layer eggplant parm with the spicy rotini. I was not disappointed. It was definitely very filling though. Not to mention I stopped at Magnolia’s bakery for a cupcake and banana pudding. I have issues saying no to food.

This was my 5 Wednesday so I got a free tee shirt saying I’m a Frequent Geek. Definitely worth it.

Saturday I managed to get free tickets to a roof top party in Manhattan. I invited David even though it’s not really our thing. We basically played chicken with each other lowkey hoping one of us would cancel. We dressed up since their was a dress code and took the train into the city to meet up around 10. We stayed for maybe half an hour. The weather wasn’t nice enough to enjoy the view, the food and drinks were too expensive, and the music wasn’t great. But we tried it haha.

We bailed and got pizza instead which we should have just done in the first place. We both got two pieces and shared so we could try all the flavors. We got BBQ chicken, vodka, spinach artichoke, and ravioli. We sat for awhile and talked and then we headed back to his place to chill.

The next morning he got tickets to see the new Avengers movie Endgame. I watched all the marvel movies leading up to it and I was not disappointed. Good choices were made. I’m happy I finally saw the light haha. I won’t talk much about it because then I won’t stop. If you want to discuss it, feel free to contact me or drop a comment.

The rest of the day was spent napping and eating. I had white chaste for the first time. Not bad but nothing spectacular. Plus we got Mexican for Cinco de Mayo. Life is good.

Saying goodbye to Seattle

My flight wasn’t scheduled to leave Seattle until 20 pm so I still had a full day left to explore.

We slept in and vegged our in bed for a bit in order to recover from the day before. We made brunch reservations for 11:30 in order to put something that resembled real food into our bodies.

Hannah and I were on the same page of sharing everything all weekend in order to try more food. She got huevos rancheros and I got a veggie scramble bowl. Hers was definitely better but our bodies thanked us for the fresh veggies in mine.

The restaurant was also known for their toppings bar for their French toast and pancakes so we agreeed to share a plate of French toast and go up together to top it. We got strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and of course whipped cream. Very satisfied with our choices.

After brunch, we headed more downtown to go on an Underground Tour of Seattle. Apparently when they first built the city, it was a hot mess and burned down, so not current Seattle sits on top of the old town and the streets and sides walks are held but by concrete walls as well. It was crazy to see the old underground walkways that were used before the second city was finished. It’s honestly surprising that there’s a city standing today after hearing the history. They even had skylights built into the side walks, but from above you wouldn’t realize that’s what they are.

The rest of the day we walked around the city and relaxed. We tried to get smoothies but everything is basically closed on the weekends. Everything revolves around the Amazon employees, so when the employees head home, everything closes. We ended up grabbing things at the Amazon Go Store, even though I still don’t understand how it works. You just grab what you want and leave. Like what??

I enjoyed. My visit. I liked Seattle a lot more than I thought I would. I would love to visit again.

Second full day in Seattle

Friday morning we had another early start. After fueling up on free coffee/hot chocolate from the lobby of her apartment, we headed out on what turned into a 14 mile walk.

Hannah doesn’t love far from Union Lake, so we started there like we had the previous morning.

If you know anything about Seattle, you’ve probably heard of the Tremont Troll. It’s exactly what you think it is: a giant concrete troll under a bride. Why? Who the hell knows.

After visiting the troll, opposite of Hannah’s apartment, we grabbed some breakfast burritos nearby and sat at Gas Works Part to eat them. Gas Works is an old gas plant they turned into a public park complete with a playground and all. The old machinery gives it a cool vibe. Plus the views of the city are probably the best around.

After getting some food in us, we set our walking to the next destination: the salmon ladder. Now the salmon ladder was a few mines away but we didn’t mind waking and neither did Nova (her pup). We stopped for treats along the way such as slushies, cheese fries from Lil Woody’s, and cupcakes from Cupcake Royal. We tried the sea salt caramel, the chocolate cream cheese, a nice lavender, and my favorite surprisingly was a honey drizzle one.

Once we got to the Chittenden Locks, we watch how the boats are able to pass through and even saw a couple of seals. The salmon ladder was closed and Hannah was disappointed I didn’t really get to see it but I didn’t mind. We sat and enjoyed the 70 degree weather and I soaked up the sun while we rested our legs and ate cupcakes.

Our final destination was Discovery Park. It’s a fairly large hiking area that we were able to navigate through to the shoreline. We got to see the lighthouse, but by that time we were pretty tired. We had walked over 10 miles at this point. Even Nova had to take a break and be carried. Thankfully we were able to Uber back home after we made it out of the park.

At her house we did a lot of recovering. I might have napped, I don’t remember. We drank the rest of our gin and ginger beer and watched YouTube videos about social experiments.

Around 9 we finally got off our bits and started getting dressed up to go out. Hannah wanted to take me to this bar called Unicorn. The drinks have fun names like Unicorn Jizz and they all takes like candy. They also have a like of carnival style food. Hannah ordered me a peach drink and we got garlic tots and a grilled cheese stuffed grilled cheese to share, along with a poutine veggie corn dog and she got the unicorn corn dog, whatever that means. We also got shots that tasted like watermelon jolly ranchers. I’m pretty sure hannah bought is another round but at that point I was wasted. It might have been from walking all day and drinking no water, but I got very drunk and very nauseous.

After stumbling out of the bar early, we ended up in a sex shop. Hannah has me try on a bunch of sexy outfits that for some reason I almost ended up buying. Thank god I didn’t end up with a vibrator because hannah wanted to buy me one as well. This is why you don’t sho when you’re drunk.

She must have called an Uber to take up home because I don’t remember the ride. I barely remember getting home. I just remember telling myself for to puke. At least hannah didn’t puke until we got back. What a way to end my last night.

Sleepless In Seattle

Again, God bless Spring Break for life.

I had to go somewhere over break, so I took the opportunity to visit Hannah in Seattle. Her boyfriend hates it there, so who knows how much longer they will be on the West Coast, so why not visit while they are still out there.

I left Wednesday around noon, and got to her apartment around 4 with the time change. She lives downtown, so most places were walking distance. We met up with one of her friends and went to a nearby hipster Mexican place. We shared many appetizers and got a couple rounds of margaritas. Evening well spent.

On the way back to the apartment, we walked around the Space Needle and a few of the museums and they pointed the sites out to me. We called it an early night though because the jet lag started to catch up with me.

Thursday morning we woke up nice and early to be first up in the Space Needle. I’m actually surprised by how clear the view was. Seattle has a bad rep of raining all the time, so I figured it would at least be overcast. But thankfully it was clear my whole visit.

We could see the whole city, along with Lake Union and all of the surrounding mountains. We took super touristy pictures and got to experience the new rotating glass floor which was dope.

Since the Chihuly Gardens were right next to the needle, we did that next. I thought it would be more of a museum, but it was defiantly a gallery walk. I would still recommend it even thought it was smaller than I thought; still mesmerizing though.

By the time we got through these main attractions, we were starving. We grabbed some donuts at Top Pot. We shared a lemon glazed, chocolate glazed raspberry, and cherry blossom which was my favorite. We also stopped at Biscuit Bitch on the way to the market. Now fuck, that was some good ass food. We shared the hot mess bitch which was egg, grits, veggie sausage, on tope of biscuits and spicy gravy. We could barely finish it between the two of us.

We walked off brunch at Pike’s Place Market. We saw the original Starbucks, but opted for a picture instead of waiting in line for an hour. We got to see them make the fresh cheese at Beecher’s. We even got to see them throw a GIANT fish, like they do on YouTube haha. We walked around and I got some paper jellies after tasting 10 different kinds along with 15 different oils. Plus I bought David a dancing Groot so he’ll see it and think of me.

Also apparently behind the market is the Great Gum Wall. I had no idea it was so close. We forgot gum to add to the wall but I saw plenty if gum and stepped in some as well.

We took a break from shopping and got Rachel’s Ginger Beer. They have like 10 different flavors of ginger beer on tap that you can pix with any alcohol you want. I tried blueberry and peach with vodka. Hannah could only handle one spicy pineapple ginger beer. We did take a jug of tangerine to go.

Before leaving the market, we shared some treats to sober up. We had to get some mac and cheese from Beecher’s after seeing how the cheese was made. And we also had to try clam chowder from Pike’s Place Chowder. 10/10 would recommend both. I would go there daily if I lived in Seattle.

The rest of the night was chill. We mixed out ginger beer with gin and threw in a lemonade popsicle for good measure. We drake and ordered Indian food for diner with Amer. We watched YouTube videos until they got into a fight and went to bed. Pretty solid first day.
